The 35th Super Bowl:
The Superbowl XXXV was the national football leagues championship game, which was held for the 35th time. The game took place on the 28th of January, 2001 at Florida, at the Raymond James stadium. It followed the 2000 season of the National Football League. The Baltimore Ravens, who were the champions of the American football Conference, defeated the New York Giants, who were the champions of the National Football Conference. The Ravens became the third team to win the super bowl game by getting a wild card entry. In the history of the super bowl tournaments, the superbowl XXXV was the first event to be held in the city of Baltimore in thirty years. The Baltimore team allowed 152 yards of offense to the Giant’s team. This was the third lowest ever in a super bowl game. The Baltimore Ravens recorded in all, 4 sacks and 5 forced turnovers. All the 16 possessions of the Giant’s team, ended with interceptions or punts.
The Pre-Game Ceremonies of the Super Bowl XXXV:
A show that was titled as “Life’s super in Central Florida” was held before the game of superbowl XXXV started. This show featured the likes of Styx, PYT and Sting. Singer Ray Charles performed “America the beautiful” on the occasion to accolade the 225th anniversary celebration of the United States of America. Ten veterans of the conflict of the gulf war were introduced on to the game field, to honor the anniversary of the war. The national anthem was sung by the Backstreet Boys. |
