SUPER BOWL VENUES
The Different Venues:
More than half of the Super Bowl Venues are present in the three cities of Louisiana in New Orleans, Miami and Los Angeles. Louisiana hosted the super bowl on nine occasions, out of which on six occasions, it was held at Louisiana superdome and on three occasions, at the Tulane stadium which is now demolished. Miami hosted the super bowl tournament in eight occasions, out of which on five occasions, the Miami’s Orange Bowl was used and on three occasions, the Miami’s Dolphin Stadium was used. Out of the seven times, that Los Angeles hosted the super bowl tournament, the Pasadena’s Rose Bowl Stadium was used for five times, while the Los Angeles memorial coliseum was used for two times. Tampa, Florida hosted super bowl on three occasions, twice at the Tampa stadium which is now demolished and once, at the Raymond James Stadium. The Miami Gardens is the selected venue for the 2010 Super Bowl XLIV.
Requirements of a Venue:
Currently, a venue for the super bowl has to have the followings characteristics:
- In the month of February, an average temperature of 50 degrees Fahrenheit has to be maintained.
- It has to have more or 65,000 seats.
- 40 television trucks and 10 photo trailers have to fit in the stadium.
- There has to be 600,000 square feet of exhibit space.
- The news media has to have a space of 50,000 square feet.
- Each team has to have separate facilities for practice.
