The football half time show is a very traditional event in the game of American football. It is held during the intervals in the second quarter and the third quarter. These quarters are of 20 minutes each. During this time, some kind of an entertainment event is presented to the audience. This is done on the field. Most of the times, the entertainment consists of the performance of the marching bands. At the high school and college games, the bands of the two teams that are competing in the game, give the performance during the halftime. In most of the cases, the cheerleaders perform with the dance teams that are present at the venue of the event. Until sometime, during the early years of the 1980s, the half time shows were shown on the television. Since then, it has become a tradition for the television networks to devote time for these events.

The highlight of the super bowl events in the United States of America are the halftime shows. These events are staged with a very high budget, which comes around millions of dollars. The advertisings for the shows are also very highly priced and hence, require a precise timing for their accommodation. Due to this, backing tracks that are pre-recorded are used by the live singing performers. Even the stage band plays along with tracks that are pre-recorded. The solo performances of the guitar are performed live. |
